THE ROLE OF THE ARCHITECT

The architect is the first person involved in the act of building, whether it concerns renovation, new construction or exterior spaces and the environment.

From the start of the project, he is the main ally of his client, called the project owner, in supporting the realization of his project.

The architect is the first and best advisor to the project owner.

He has the capacity to analyze the sites and the conditions of construction, the constraints and the administrative and technical obligations,  the reality of feasibility and their costs. The architect is also able to anticipate the overall programming of the project and propose implementation schedules corresponding to expectations but also realistic in terms of, once again, feasibility in local realities.

This is how, apart from advice, the architect's first mission, he intervenes in the design of the layout of living spaces of all kinds, including in the design of landscapes, but also in their implementation. implemented.

The architect remains the best guarantor of the completion of the projects entrusted to him, in quality and on time, being their designer, knowing the objectives of his clients, and committed to having them carried out as envisaged by the project managers. work in question.

 The intervention of the architect must be obligatory, being an added value in the act of building.

The architect's intervention is divided into several missions which follow one another as follows:

  • The board

  • Help choosing the site

  • Programming assistance

  • The architectural and technical design of the works:

    • Sketch

    • Pre-Project Summary

    • Before detailed project,

    • Business Consultation File ....

    • All written documents corresponding to each stage of the studies: contracts, CCTP, CCAP, etc.

  • Administrative procedures including monitoring of obtaining the building permit

  • Evaluation of the cost of the work, or even the entire operation

  • Establishment of implementation schedules in correlation with financing

  • Project management (monitoring the completion of the work) until final delivery of the work

The architect is the intermediary between the project owner and the various stakeholders linked to the project, the administration, local populations, users, economic operators, contractors and suppliers...

In this position, the architect defends and protects the interests of the client.

HOW DO YOU BECOME AN ARCHITECT

REGISTRATION
Section 96:
Any Architect established in Cameroon and who meets the conditions set out in article 35 of Law No. 09/041 of August 10, 1990 relating to the exercise and organization of the profession of Architect in Cameroon may send his application for registration with the Council of the Order


INTERNSHIP
Section 97:
(1) Before their first registration, each Architect is required to complete a professional internship lasting 24 months
(2) Architects with proof of professional practice outside Cameroon for a period greater than or equal to (5) years, are subject to an internship lasting (6) months.
(3) Architects serving in a Public Administration where they carry out activities related to the profession are authorized to request registration on the Order's roll after a period of activity greater than or equal to twelve (12) months
(4)Internships must be fullycarried out on Cameroonian territory
